Supported Independent Living
Personalised daily support to help you live independently in your own home, your way, on your terms, with the assistance you need.

What is Supported Independent Living?
Supported Independent Living (SIL) is NDIS-funded assistance that helps you live as independently as possible in your own home. It covers the day-to-day personal support you need from personal care and meal preparation to household tasks and community access.
SIL is not about doing things for you; it’s about supporting you to do things yourself. Our approach focuses on building your skills and confidence while ensuring you have the right level of assistance when you need it.
Our SIL Philosophy
Every person has the right to live in a home that feels like their own. We believe SIL should enhance your life, not restrict it. Our support workers become part of your extended community, respecting your space while being there when you need them.

Your Questions, Answered
Get clarity on how Supported Independent Living works, funding, and what to expect.
SIL is specifically designed for people who need regular, ongoing support to live independently. Unlike standard in-home support (which may be a few hours per week), SIL provides a comprehensive support framework — often 24/7 — tailored to your living arrangement. SIL is funded separately from other NDIS supports.
SIL funding is based on a detailed assessment of your support needs, including the type and frequency of assistance required. The NDIA uses a reference package approach, considering factors like the ratio of support workers to participants, overnight support needs, and active vs. sleepover night shifts.
Yes! Compatibility is crucial for a successful shared living arrangement. We facilitate introductions and trial periods so you can meet potential housemates. You always have the right to express your preferences and say no if a match doesn't feel right.
SIL can include active overnight support (where a worker is awake and available all night) or sleepover support (where a worker sleeps on-site but is available if needed). The type of overnight support is determined by your assessed needs.
Absolutely. Many participants with SDA housing also receive SIL support. SDA covers the specialist housing itself, while SIL covers the daily support services within that home. They're complementary NDIS funding categories.
All SIL workers hold relevant qualifications (Certificate III or IV in Individual Support/Disability), current police checks, NDIS Worker Screening, first aid, and medication administration training. Many also have specialised training in complex care, mental health, and positive behaviour support.
