Common Questions About MTA
Everything you need to know about Medium Term Accommodation and how it works.
How is MTA funded through the NDIS?
Medium Term Accommodation is funded under NDIS Capital Supports — Assistive Technology and Home Modifications (or sometimes under Core Supports depending on circumstances). MTA funding covers the cost of accommodation for up to 90 days while you wait for your longer-term housing solution. Your Support Coordinator can help request MTA funding through a plan review or change of circumstances.
How long can I stay in MTA?
MTA is designed for stays of up to 90 days. In some cases, extensions can be requested through the NDIA if your permanent housing is not yet available. We work with your Support Coordinator to ensure continuity of support.
What's the difference between STA and MTA?
Short Term Accommodation (STA) is for planned breaks of up to 14 days, primarily to give carers respite. Medium Term Accommodation (MTA) is for longer transitional stays of up to 90 days, typically while waiting for permanent housing like SDA or SIL.
Can I choose where I stay?
We do our best to match you with an MTA property in your preferred area. Our properties are across Greater Adelaide and regional South Australia. We consider your access needs, proximity to services, and personal preferences.
What support is provided during MTA?
MTA includes accommodation only — support services (personal care, daily living assistance) are funded separately under your NDIS Core Supports. We can provide both the accommodation and the support services, making it seamless for you.
What happens at the end of my MTA stay?
We work with you, your family, and your Support Coordinator throughout your stay to plan a smooth transition. Whether you’re moving into SDA, SIL, returning home, or another arrangement, we help coordinate the move and ensure continuity of care.
